Mission Statement

Family First Sunday School welcomes all children and families, regardless of membership or affiliation to create a revolution of Jewish life and learning. By providing an avenue for Jewish education along with exciting experiences for the Holidays and other life cycle events, Family First Sunday School provides a non-judgmental environment filled with engaging, hands-on learning that enables our children and their families to translate Jewish learning into Jewish living. This concept strengthens the Jewish identity of our children and their parents, and ultimately, builds community.

Vision

Our vision at JET's Family First Sunday School is to have children of all ages fall in love with Judaism. Family First Sunday School is a refreshing program; our goal is not to simply teach children about Judaism or how to read Hebrew, but to help children experience Judaism. Family First Sunday School provides every student with two hours of fantastic, fun and active learning. Students will not just learn about Judaism, they will live Judaism.

We believe that kids remember what they see and do, not what they are taught or told. It is with this in mind that we created a program that is full of active learning. Our classes are designed to open students' minds to a Jewish way of life. Instead of categorizing classes by subject we provide conceptual themes for each grade level that truly allow the students to explore Judaism in today's age. Our classes give children basic instruction and guidance, allowing them to set forth and explore on their own. Our goal is to teach students how to apply their unique character traits for the good of themselves and others, and imbue them with self-confidence and strong values. This sense of Jewish pride along with a strong knowledge of Jewish principals, history, and prayer will help our children gain the knowledge they need to continue into adulthood with a strong and positive Jewish identity.
